Geothermal Venting Decision Support for Calpine

Since 2022, Sonoma Technology has provided on-call decision support to Calpine during potential geothermal venting events in the Geysers region of northern California. Based on forecasts of meteorological conditions and potential transport of vent emissions to downwind communities, Calpine makes decisions on the date and time period for venting. In addition to on-call forecasts, Sonoma Technology has developed a customizable trajectory tool that predicts transport paths from specific vent locations to assist meteorologist decision support.
