As part of the Lake Tahoe Environmental Improvement Program (EIP), the EIP stakeholders developed a climate change strategy for the Lake Tahoe region. To support this process, Sonoma Technology prepared a regional greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventory to establish a baseline of information about current GHG emissions by source sector (e.g., transportation, residential fuel combustion, wildfires, etc.). This baseline inventory allows planning agencies to set emissions reduction targets, generate incentives for emissions reductions as part of the regional planning process, and direct funds toward projects that best achieve climate change goals.
