For nearly two decades, Sonoma Technology has worked with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and the Imperial County Air Pollution Control District (ICAPCD) to operate and maintain the air quality forecasting program. Daily air quality forecasts are issued for the Imperial Valley, CA, and Mexicali, Mexico.<br>

Sonoma Technology meteorologists produce daily forecasts for ozone concentrations between March and October. We also forecast PM2.5 and PM10 concentrations year-round. From November through February of each year, Sonoma Technology assists ICAPCD with its woodstove burning curtailment program, with forecasts aiming to keep observed Air Quality Index (AQI) levels for PM2.5 below the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups (USG) category. ICAPCD is the only client for which Sonoma Technology forecasts PM10 concentrations, as dense blowing dust in the region can cause AQI levels to reach the USG category or higher multiple times annually.<br>

Sonoma Technology meteorologists work with ICAPCD and the National Weather Service to issue Air Quality Alerts to provide the public with advance warning during poor air quality episodes.<br>

Along with the air quality forecasting program, Sonoma Technology operates and maintains the <a href="http://imperialvalleyair.org/" target="_blank">ImperialValleyAir.org website</a href> and mobile app. These platforms provide air quality forecasts, alerts, and current air quality levels in English and Spanish. Additionally, subscribers can receive real-time notifications on rapidly changing air quality conditions in the Imperial Valley via email or the mobile app.
