STI emissions specialists and programmers worked with the American Petroleum Institute to synthesize the U.S. EPA’s guidance for oil and gas production facilities into a simple automated end-user tool. EPEC II offers petroleum professionals point-and-click, on-screen data entry; allows menu-driven option selection; reads and writes to Microsoft Access databases; and generates formatted emissions reports. EPEC II is for sale through the American Petroleum Institute (www.api.org).
EPEC II users enter their own information into each of the data fields to describe petroleum facility operations. This information is stored in a database and used to estimate emissions from the facility.
Pull-down menus allow users to choose from a number of available options to estimate emissions.

The use of Microsoft Access databases to store inputs and outputs allows EPEC II users total control and flexibility over data processing and display external to EPEC II.

STI programmers implemented data access components to pull data from the database and produce tabular, formatted reports from EPEC II output results. EPEC II users can send the results to a printer or text file.
