Permitting and Compliance

STI staff have extensive experience obtaining preconstruction and operating permits for stationary sources, interpreting air regulations in terms that decision makers can understand, and providing guidance with respect to siting and future permitting of potential modifications. As part of the permitting process, STI personnel have characterized and estimated source emissions, evaluated potential control technologies, and conducted dispersion modeling. STI's work is well-respected by regulatory agencies.

STI staff also have expertise in the area of compliance, ranging from technical to regulatory issues. Examples of technical issues are stack-testing planning and supervision, CEM evaluations, Data Acquisition Handling System evaluations, and evaluation of source contributions to downwind ambient air quality and visibility. Regulation-based issues include compliance evaluations, due diligence evaluations for facility transfers, development of emissions calculation and recordkeeping tools, and preparation of compliance manuals for facility operators.
