Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Software Development

Effective management of complex information requires state-of-the-art software systems and applications. STI programmers develop software and applications to meet a wide variety of user needs, including GIS mapping, data warehousing, and Internet-based dissemination of environmental data. Development of GIS databases and applications is an integral element of modern environmental analysis. We offer a suite of GIS services that combine our understanding of user needs, available databases, and high-end GIS software capabilities. In addition, STI develops graphical user interfaces for models and databases, as well as software for forecasting, emissions modeling, air quality modeling, and data analysis. Our software systems include tools for real-time data acquisition from instruments; remote instrument management; automated data retrieval, ingestion, and real-time Internet display; and environmental data management, quality control, and quality assurance. The hallmark of STI software is its functionality; we use our own software and design it to perform functions that are commonly needed.
